Question about Couponing or Couponing Help

Hello everyone.     This is Susan (Beth’s Mom) and I am sending my dilemma out to all of you in hopes of finding a good, FRUGAL solution.

I am in charge of collecting money and buying Coffee, Creamer, Filters etc for the department I work in.   With the price of coffee and the number of employees on the rise, I am finding it hard to keep up.

We are a little picky about our coffee (almost always drink Folgers – Strength #2 or 3)   I last bought at Sams Club -$14.88 for 48 oz canister, but usually buy Walmart – $9-$10 for 33.9 oz. canister.     The 25 cent off coupons help a little but not as much as I need them to.

We use one of the 33.9 oz canisters per week.   I am from Terre Haute, IN,   but do make frequent trips to Indianapolis.

Does anyone have any suggestions for good deals on coffee, where I could buy in bulk at a discount, etc?

Thanks for your help in advance

Susan

I’ve been getting   few questions on why things like Extra Care Bucks, Register Rewards, gift cards, and other rewards are included in the final price.   It can be confusing, but it’s all in perspective and how you’re shopping.

Let me give you a little scenario to help you understand…

Your Grocery List

  • Milk @ $2.50
  • Bread @ $1.49
  • Apples (3 lb.) @ $2.99
  • TOTAL = $6.98

You’re heading to Target and before you go, you check In Good Cents and see this (and keep in mind, this is a completely made up scenario, so don’t head to Target to try it out!):

Garnier Shampoo or Conditioner – $2.50
Get $5 Target gift card wyb 4

$3/2 Garnier Shampoo or Conditioner (Insert Coupon)
$1/2 Garnier Shampoo or Conditioner (Target Printable Coupon)
$1/2 Garnier Shampoo or Conditioners (Target Mobile Coupon)
FREE plus overage wyb 2 after stacked coupons & gift card

Is it really FREE?   No.   You have to pay and then get the gift card back to use later.   But, you’re a smart shopper and you head to Target and you do this…

Transaction #1

  • (2) Garnier Shampoos @ $2.50
  • (2) Garnier Conditioners @ $2.50

And you use:

  • (2) $3/2 Garnier Shampoo or Conditioner (Insert Coupon)
  • (1) $1/2 Garnier Shampoo or Conditioner (Target Printable Coupon)
  • (1) $1/2 Garnier Shampoo or Conditioners (Target Mobile Coupon)

You pay $2 out of pocket and you get a $5 Target gift card back.   So, yes, it’s not FREE, because you did pay $2.

However, next you do this…

Transaction #2

  • Milk @ $2.50
  • Bread @ $1.49
  • Apples (3 lb.) @ $2.99

It’s your shopping list that you were planning on purchasing anyway.   You use your $5 Target gift card to buy it and end up paying $1.98 out of pocket.   That’s $5 less than you planned on paying and you got everything you needed and more.

So, let’s sum it up…

  • You planned to pay $6.98 out of pocket for thing things you needed on your shopping list.
  • You payed $3.98   out-of-pocket and got more than you planned.
  • So, that shampoo and conditioner was FREE plus, it helped lower the cost of items you already planned on purchasing.

But what if you don’t need shampoo or conditioner, don’t like Garnier, or for some other reason don’t want the shampoo and conditioner?   Donate it!   Someone else can always use it!
