Deals for your home

Here’s a few deals for your home from Ann-Marie of Chaos Is Bliss.

  • ABC’s 25 Days of Christmas: Have your families tuned into ABC’s 25 Days of Christmas?   We have already watched the Grinch, and Santa Claus is Coming to Town. I love the classics! Then on Thursday night we recorded Prep & Landing which was a favorite of our family from last year. If you’d like to see if your favorite Christmas show or movie will make the calendar, see the full lineup here.

  • Reindeer Feed Recipe: For this fun, kids-in-the-kitchen recipe, you’ll need 6 cups Rice Chex or Chocolate Chex cereal, 1 bag (12-oz, or 2 cups) white chocolate baking chips, and 1/3 cup coarsely chopped peppermint candy canes (14 miniature, unwrapped).

Directions
1. Line cookie sheet with foil or waxed paper. Place cereal in large bowl.

2. In microwavable bowl, microwave white vanilla baking chips uncovered on High about 1 minute 30 seconds, stirring every 30 seconds, until chips can be stirred smooth. Stir in half the crushed peppermint candy.

3. Pour over cereal; toss to evenly coat. Spread mixture in single layer on cookie sheet. Immediately sprinkle with remaining candy. Let stand until set, about 20 minutes. Gently break up coated cereal. Store in airtight container.

Tip: To make feed bag, cut two 6 1/2 x 5-inch rectangles from a piece of muslin-type fabric. Using a hot glue gun, run a bead of glue on edge of three sides of one rectangle. Top with other rectangle to form pocket. Turn pocket inside-out. Roll down top opened edge to create a cuff.

  • Pier One $10 off $50 printable: It’s hard walking into this store and not finding something new for your home, and definitely it’s worth a little gift-shopping in too!   Save $10 off a purchase of $50 or more with this coupon. Thanks CouponDad!
  • Angie’s List $15 Gift Membership: Nope, there’s no typo, and no catch. You can get a 1-year Angie’s List gift membership for just $15. Unfamiliar with Angie’s List?   Then perhaps you live in an a maintenance-free community or have a really handy fix-it type person in your household, because we definitely have gotten our money’s worth with our membership.   A new sump pump when our basement flooded, (new carpet in said basement), freezer repair, new siding, new roof – and that’s only the first two years we’ve lived in this house!   We turned to Angie’s List to find all of these contractors.   Plus many contractors offer Angie’s List discounts and coupons.

I happened to be at a vendor booth next to a gal who worked for Angie’s List, and I asked her about the $15 gift membership promotion I had seen in my monthly Angie’s List publication. Memberships normally run around $40, so I asked her if it was only a ‘trial’ or 6-month membership, and she said no … full year for just $15!   Angie’s List is national, when you start the order you choose the city where the recipient lives. Matter of fact I purchased a gift membership for my parents who live in southwest Florida, and there were easily 50+ cities all over the country listed.

  • KMart Cyber Monday Coupon: Betcha thought Cyber Monday happened a couple weeks ago?   Retailers are not missing out on the huge opportunity for internet orders, so many are offering Cyber Monday deals this Monday, 12/13.   When you shop KMart.com on 12/13 and use code KMGIFTS, you’ll get FREE shipping on orders $29 or more, on top of their Cyber Monday sale prices of 5-20% off.

Halloween has passed and stores are already filling shelves with holiday decor, seasonal flavored foods, and all the other things that remind us that Christmas is coming quicker than we realize.

Some stores say they aren’t waiting for the day after Thanksgiving this year to start offering some deep discounts.   Will they be as good as some of the discounts we find on Black Friday?   We’ll just have to see.

So, who should you keep your eye on early?   And do keep in mind that “Black Friday” doesn’t always mean the best or lowest price.   Sometimes it’s just meant to entice you.

  • JCPenney Biggest Sale of Them All (November 6-24, 2010): JCPenney is claiming the Biggest Sale of Them All on November 6th and another one on November 17th, followed by a Huge Sale on November 20th, and a Day Before Thanksgiving Sale on… you guessed it, November 24th.
  • Sears 2-Day Black Friday Now Sale (November 5-November 20, 2010): Sears will be kicking the shopping season off this Friday, November 5th, with a 2-Day Black Friday Now Sale, offering discounts on thousands of items online only.   Use the coupon code SNOW to save an extra $5 off your $50 purchase (exp. 12/25/10).   They’ll be hosting Black Friday Now Sales every Friday and Saturday through November 20th.
  • Target Pre-Black Friday Sale (November 21-25, 2010): Target will have a 4-day sale starting November 21st before Thanksgiving featuring over 170 items, plus coupons in the Sunday circular to help you save even more!   Plus, Target is hosting a Thanksgiving Day online-only sale, with exclusive discounts you won’t see on Black Friday.
  • Toys ‘R Us   The Great Big Christmas Book (November 1-December 24, 2010): Toys ‘R Us The Great Big Christmas Book has already arrived on steps and the deals inside are live in-store and online now!   There are over 50 “Buy This, Get That FREE” offers, a FREE $10 gift card with purchase of $75 or more, and you can earn 10% back on your holiday purchases with your FREE Rewards ‘R Us membership. Might want to sign up now, if you haven’t already.
