Well I’ve had a fun time on Pinterest this week. Here are a few finds I was impressed with.

Frame a Quilt with Fabric Scraps. I think I would make it more colorful. But love this idea.

This looks like a great way to practice math. School work is always much more fun when it is like a game.

 

I wish I had seen this rule when my kids were small.  Great way to start them out so they wouldn’t expect so much.

 

OK  I need some crafty man to make this for me !!  A Karosene heater converted into a Lamp.  I love it.

 

Did you know?  This site has a list of great ideas and did you knows. Cereal canister for a trash can in your car? I will be picking one of these up real soon.

 

A Turtles Life for Me has a great post on how to make 40 freezer meals in 4 hours. Wow That could fill my freezer fast.

 

Eat This Not That has a great list of 15 recipes for weight loss. These nachos look so tasty.

 

What a fabulous idea. Why are these not sold everywhere?

Holiday Wassail Recipe
Recipe Type: Beverage
Ingredients
  • 3 cups apple juice
  • 1 1/4 cup unsweetened pineapple juice
  • 2 Tbsp honey
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/8 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp whole cloves
Instructions
  1. Combine all ingredients in casserole dish.
  2. Heat in microwave on full power for 10 to 12 minutes (until boils) stirring 1/2 way through.
  3. Continue to heat on medium power for 3 minutes.
  4. Garnish with lemon and orange slices.
  5. Serve warm.
  6. Makes 4 1/2 cups.
Notes

To make in crock pot – Put all ingredients in crock pot and cook on high for 1 hour then low for 4-8 hours.

Sweet Potato Casserole Recipe
Recipe Type: Side dish, Vegetable
Tasty easy Casserole
Ingredients
  • 3 cups mashed sweet potatoes
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 eggs – well beaten
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup sweet milk
  • 1/2 stick margarine
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
Instructions
  1. Mix together first 6 ingredients.
  2. Pour into large baking dish.
  3. In separate bowl mix together remaining ingredients.
  4. Pour over potato mixture.
  5. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes.
Notes

This will keep in refrigerator for 3-4 days before baking. One dish you can make ahead then just cook for the big meal.
You can also mix this together and freeze before baking.

An old favorite that many of you have had before.  I never realized how easy it is to make.

Pretzel Salad Recipe
Recipe Type: Salad, dessert, side dish
Always a favorite for holidays and carry ins.
Ingredients
  • Layer 1
  • 1 cup crushed pretzels
  • 3 Tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • Layer 2
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 small Cool Whip
  • Layer 3
  • 1 large pkg strawberry Jello
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1 large carton frozen strawberries
Instructions
  1. Layer 1
  2. Mix pretzels, sugar and butter and press into bottom of 9×13 baking dish.
  3. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
  4. Layer 2
  5. Mix together Cream cheese and sugar.
  6. Mix in Cool Whip.
  7. Spread over cooled crust.
  8. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  9. Layer 3
  10. Mix Jello with hot water until dissolved.
  11. Mix in cold water and strawberries.
  12. Chill until slightly thickened.
  13. Spoon over cream cheese layer.
  14. Refrigerate until firm and ready to eat.

Holiday Recipes

Cream Puffs




  • 1/2 cup boiling water
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 eggs


  1. Pour boiling water over butter ans stir over medium heat until butter melts
  2. Add flour all at once and stir until mixture leaves the sides of the pan and forms a ball.
  3. Remove from heat and add eggs one at a time beating each until mixture becomes a smooth paste.
  4. Drop by teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet.
  5. Bake at 450 degrees for 15 min the at 300 degrees 25-35 min.
  6. Let cool.
  7. Cut off tops and fill with any flavor pudding. Put tops back on and drizzle with chocolate syrup or dust with powdered sugar.

Holiday Recipes


  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup cooking oil
  • 1 – 1 lb can pumpkin
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • Raisins and walnuts


  1. Mix all ingredients together. pour into 9×13 greased pan.
  2. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes
  3. Cool before frosting

Frosting – Mix together until smooth –   3 oz cream cheese, 1 stick butter, 1 box powdered sugar and 1 tsp vanilla.
