Better for you Cake Recipe
Recipe Type: Dessert
Quick and easy moist cake with no eggs, milk or butter
Ingredients
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 cups raisins
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 3 cups flour
Instructions
  1. Mix first 6 in sauce pan and bring to a boil for 3-4 minutes.
  2. Let cool.
  3. Add soda, then flour and baking powder.
  4. Bake on sheet pan or cake pan, greased with no stick cooking spray, at 350 degrees for 30 minutes

Frugal Recipes

My Mom would make tons of the dumplings and freeze them so we could enjoy them all year long.

To make syrup mix together       

  • 2 cups suger
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/4 c oleo or butter

Then

  • Cut 6 peeled apples into fourths and set aside

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 3.4 cup Crisco
  • 1/4 cup milk
  1.     Make a pie dough from above. Roll 1/4 inch thick. cut into 5 inch squares. Put 4 pieces of apple into each squre. Sprinkle with sugar cinnamon and nutmeg. Dot with oleo or butter.
  2. Fold up and pinch corners together and place in greased pan. Pur syrup mixture all over.
  3. Bake at 375 degrees for 35 minutes.

To freeze just make the dumplings and freeze.  When ready to cook take from freezer, thaw, mix the sryup mixture and cook as directed.

Frugal Recipes

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup softened butter
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 7 Tbsp cocoa
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 eggs

Directions

1.  Cream together butter and sugar.

2.  Add cocoa and vanilla.

3.  Add 1 egg and beat for 5 minutes. Add the other egg and beat 5 more minutes.

4.  Pour into baked pie shell. Chill until solid.

Change things up a little with a Garnish of whip topping and chocolate swirls. Use a Graham Cracker crust instead of a pie shell.

Church Pie Recipe

Great Quick recipe for a carry in or bake sale!!

Ingredients

  • 1 Can Crushed Pineapple (16-18oz drained)
  • 1 Can Eagle Brand Milk
  • 1 Cool Whip (12-16oz)
  • 4 tsp Lemon Juice

Directions

1. Mix together all ingredients

2. Pour into 2 baked pie shells or graham craker crusts.

3. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Frugal Recipes

Ingredients

  • 1 Yellow Cake Mix
  • 2 boxes Lemon Instant pudding 3 3/4 oz
  • 1 Carton Sour cream 8oz
  • 1 Cup Vegetable Oil
  • 3/4 Cup Hot Water
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 4 Eggs
  • 2/3 Cup Sugar
  • 3 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1 Cup Chopped Pecans or Dry Oatmeal

Directions

1. Spray Bundt pan with non stick cooking spray.

2. Mix first 7 ingredients in large mixing bowl.

3. Mix remaining ingredients separately for filling.

4. Alternate batter and filling in Bundt pan.

5. Bake at 350 degrees for 60 minutes.

Sprinkle with powdered sugar or drizzle with glaze.

Dirt Cake Recipe

Here is a recipe for fast and fun dessert.

Ingredients

  • 1 Pkg Oreo cookies (finely crushed)
  • 1 8 oz cream cheese
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 small pkg vanilla instant pudding
  • 1 12oz Cool Whip

Directions

1. Combine cream cheese, butter and powdered sugar. Set aside.

2. In separate bowl combine milk and pudding mix.

3.   Fold in Cool Whip.

4.   Add the cream cheese mixture and mix well.

5.   In 9×13 pan alternate layers of   cookie crumbs and pudding mixture.

6.   Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Cooking Tips & More

Another cute idea for a carry in   –     You can also serve this in a foil lined flower pot.   Decorate with silk flowers and some gummy worms. Use a sand shovel to serve instead of a spoon.

Birthday party idea – Serve in individual cups with a gummy work or make it in a 9×13 pan and decorate with toy trucks as a work site.
