Announcements

Back when Marsh stopped doubling coupons, I noticed all mention of double coupons also disappeared from Meijer’s Frequently Asked Questions. I figured we didn’t have much time and now it’s happened.

Signs like pictures above are appearing in Meijer stores in Michigan and Indiana. While there has been no official announcement, Meijer has confirmed on their Facebook page that they will stop double coupons in “select markets”.

What can you do?

  • Continue to coupon. Continue to use manufacturer coupons, Meijer Perks, and other coupons and rebates to maximize your savings and stack them with great sales to help you save!
  • Be kind! Remember, be kind to the cashiers and managers. They aren’t the ones who made this decision, so there’s no reason to take our frustration out on them.

If you’ve seen a sign like this in your store, let us know where here or on the Facebook discussion! And, do you think Kroger will follow soon?

While making your grocery list, make sure you haven’t missed any recently added deals at Meijer, plus check out all the deals for grocery shopping.

If you check out the Marsh Coupon Policy, you’ll notice a few changes, including one HUGE change – no double coupons. When the new Marsh Coupon Policy goes into effect on January 31, 2013, Marsh will no longer offer double coupons.

Here’s a few changes you’ll notice:

  • Marsh Supermarket will no longer offer double coupons.
  • Internet coupons must scan at the checkout and must follow industry standard format.

While I understand that Marsh doesn’t want  riot of unhappy couponers on their hands, I’m kind of disappointed in them for quietly making this change without any sort of announcement. Unfortunately, I’ve had the information confirmed by multiple reliable sources and announcements will be posted at registers tomorrow. Personally, I’d be irate if I didn’t find out until checkout about this big change.

How will this change affect how you shop?

You can read the fully updated Marsh Coupon Policy online.

Don’t Miss Updates on Facebook from Anyone!

by Beth Montgomery on November 20, 2012 · 2 comments

in Announcements,

Facebook has been making changes once again and I was a bit in shock at how much my wall changed. Suddenly, I’m getting updates from people I don’t really talk to that often and I’m missing every update from my own Dad!

If you’re missing updates on your wall from In Good Cents, or any page or friend, here’s how to fix the problem.

1. Like” In Good Cents or the page you’d like to get updates from on Facebook or “Friend” any person.

2. Choose Get Notifications, Show in Newsfeed, and/or Add to Interests or any combination of the three. (Add to Interests is only available for pages. For friends, add to a Friend List, such as “Family”.)

Confused about the difference between the options? Continue on to find out how each option works.

Recently, sponsored stories for very sketchy websites have been showing up all over my Facebook wall, pages, and groups. Now that pages can promote their content, forcing it into your view, it’s impossible to stop it or avoid it, so we have to be a bit more savvy about what we click.

The crazy thing that it’s working. Many of these pages have hundreds of thousands of “likes” and friends are sharing their posts, making them appear more legitimate.

Women Get It Free

Clicking on this link takes you to a page that appears pretty harmless at first, but when you click their “Send Me Freebies!!” button, you’ll find this small print at the bottom of the sign up form.

By clicking the Send Me Samples button, I have read and agree to GetItFree.us’s Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions which includes providing my signature expressly requesting a return phone call from this list of Marketing Partners such as Alliance Health Networks, Diabetic Discount Club, DebtSettlement.com based on my answers to the following survey page.

After that, you’re sent through pages of surveys asking questions, which are basically harvesting your information for marketing lists. You even have to provide your  mobile phone number and agree to receive phone calls from their partners.

Specifically, entering your information on the registration page or answering any survey question will result in a live or prerecorded telephone call or SMS text message from Our Companies to any telephone number, including wireless telephone numbers, that you provide.

By providing your telephone number, you expressly consent to receiving telephone calls and text messages from Our Companies, regardless of whether you have registered the number on the FTC’s “Do Not Call” Registry. Expect to receive several calls and/or text messages that follow-up on your initial request.
