Summer is a great time to introduce little ones to the wonder of the theater without worrying about wasting your money, since many theaters offer FREE (or cheap) family movies). Some participating theaters even offer a “cry theater” for moms with younger kids (or babies) who may make a bit of noise.
Movies are offered on a first come, first serve basis and seating is limited, so depending on your local theater, you may need to show up early to guarantee a seat and avoid waiting in lines. Bring quiet entertainment, in case you’ll be waiting in the theater for a while. This may be the time for kids to get a jump start on their FREE Summer Reading Programs.
- Cinemark Summer Movie Club ($1 per person): Visit Indianapolis Cinemark Movies 8, Mishawaka Cinemark Movies 6, or Cinemark at Valpraiso for their Cinemark Summer Movie Clubhouse. Get 10 shoes for $5 or $1 per show at the box office. Movies and start dates vary by location.
- Great Escapes Free Summer Movies: Participating theaters nationwide will offer FREE summer kids’ movies starting at 9:30 AM on select dates throughout the summer. Kicks off in Noblesville on May 29th and Shelbyville 8 on June 5th, then continues every Tuesday and Wednesday for 10 weeks.
- Rave FREE Family Film Festival: For 9-weeks during the summer, Rave Cinemas will offer FREE G and PG-rated family movies at 10:00 AM for FREE for all ages, plus get a FREE ICEE upgrade with purchase of any kids combo at the Free Family Film Festival. Kicks off Monday, June 4th Plainfield Metropolis 18 and Monday, Juen 11th at the Fort Wayne Jefferson Pointe 18 + IMAX where movies will be offered Monday and Thursday.
- Regal Summer Movie Express ($1 per person): For 9-weeks during the summer, Regal Cinemas, United Artists, and Edward Theatres will offer G and PG-rated movies on Tuesday and Wednesday at 10:00 AM for only $1 per person through the Regal Summer Movie Express. Kicks off June 5th at Galaxy Stadium 14 in Indianapolis and June 12th at Village Park Stadium 17 in Carmel.
