My Mom would make tons of the dumplings and freeze them so we could enjoy them all year long.

To make syrup mix together

  • 2 cups suger
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/4 c oleo or butter

  • Cut 6 peeled apples into fourths and set aside

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 3.4 cup Crisco
  • 1/4 cup milk
  1.     Make a pie dough from above. Roll 1/4 inch thick. cut into 5 inch squares. Put 4 pieces of apple into each squre. Sprinkle with sugar cinnamon and nutmeg. Dot with oleo or butter.
  2. Fold up and pinch corners together and place in greased pan. Pur syrup mixture all over.
  3. Bake at 375 degrees for 35 minutes.

To freeze just make the dumplings and freeze.  When ready to cook take from freezer, thaw, mix the sryup mixture and cook as directed.
