Deals for your home

Here’s a few deals for your home from Ann-Marie of Chaos Is Bliss.

  • Turkey Pot Pie Recipe: This recipe is a favorite of mine, modified from a Chicken Pot Pie recipe a neighbor made for us after having our son. It is super-easy and so yummy!   Try it with your turkey leftovers, then save the recipe but try it next time with 2 C of cooked chicken breast instead of the turkey. You’ll keep coming back to it as a comfort food favorite!

Ingredients:

2 cup cooked, cubed turkey
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 can of Veg-All
salt & pepper to taste
2 deep-dish frozen pie crusts

Remove one pie crust from aluminum pan, invert onto waxed paper and allow it to come to room temperature, 5-10 minutes (it will start to flatten a little). Meanwhile, combine remaining ingredients. Pour into second pie crust (still in pan). Top with first pie crust, pinch edges to seal. You may fold top crust under bottom, or trim edges. Cut 3 slits in top pie crust to allow steam to escape. Cover edges of crust with foil. Bake at 400 degrees for 35-40 minutes or until crust is lightly browned.

  • Kohl’s Online Shopping: I am a BIG fan of Kohl’s, but especially now that I just saved more than $40 on one item just by shopping around! I went to my first favorite store (to remain nameless…) and was just about to purchase a bookcase for my daughter’s bedroom for roughly $114 including shipping. Tried as I might, I could not find a way around the shipping charges for this particular item.

Before I clicked “continue and pay” in my shopping cart, I thought I should search a little more to see if the same bookcase was available elsewhere.   I scored at Kohl’s!   Not only was it available, but it was priced $11 less, and with free shipping.

But I wasn’t done yet.   When you shop online with Kohl’s, you can enter up to 2 promotional codes for further savings!   I went to RetailMeNot.com to see if they might have a coupon code for Kohl’s. I found one for 20% off, however once I applied that then my shipping went back to the normal rate.   I figured it was an either-or option, however I went back to Retail Me Not and found a second code for free shipping!   After tax I ended up paying $72.75 for my daughter’s bookcase, whereas at the other store I would have paid $114.

I felt SO good about my purchase, and super excited to have saved so much money on it. Bottom line:   Shop around, not only for price comparisons but shop around for promotional/coupon codes as well (Google “[Store] Promotional Code”). Most stores will only allow 1 code, but at least at Kohl’s you can enter up to two.

  • Get Organized & Save 7% on $35 or more: Use promotional code XMAS7OFF35 to get 7% taken off your order of $35 or more at Organize.com! Check out their holiday gift guide while you’re there.
