We make our own laundry detergent, try to stay away from fast food, and I just received a sewing machine for my birthday, so I hope to use that for a lot of things! :)

We save money by using coupons: buying reduced produce (it goes so quickly anyway with 4 kids…and I don’t have to wait for the fruit to ‘ripen’–it’s ready immediately!, meat ends (just as good as the middle!): purchasing next year’s clothes off season sales; shopping discount stores for myself; and of course we reuse, recycle, reduce waste! We also conserve energy by turning off lights, and unplugging any appliance that isn’t being currently used….saves more than you think, especially the microwave!

The biggest way I save money is by cooking meals for us to eat at home and avoid restaurants. It’s truly amazing how eating out can add up (even with coupons or at low-cost restaurants). I’ve been making freezer meals for almost 5 years now and it’s a great time and cost saver!

I do pedicure and manicure for myself at home. Also, (plz dont laugh), I always do the hair-cut for my husband. Saves around 30-40/month. Plus, we switched to energy efficient bulbs and our electric bill has dropped drastically. It has been almost three years since we changed the bulbs and still going strong.

I clip coupons, make extra when I cook a meal so we can have it later in the week. I also like to make as much of our meals from scratch instead of boxed.
