in shopping at walmart the other day, i encountered a new issue regarding coupons. they told me they can no longer accept black and white printed coupons, that they have to be in color so they can see the yellow dots behind the expiration date. i asked if this was new because i have never encountered that before, and they said yes it was just sent out last week she thought. has anyone else encountered this? any advice? if this is true, that majorly cuts down on the shopping i will be doing there. =(
Some stores do have this policy. I haven’t encountered it at any of mine, but I know in Terre Haute almost every store won’t take black & white printable coupons. She was in shock when she came here and didn’t have to print them in color. It’s becoming very common, because of issues with fraud. Fraudulent coupons cost stores hundreds of millions of dollars each year and that’s forcing them to put these policies in place.
thanks for the info. what a shame that people do that and ruin it for others. i can’t justify the cost it would be for color ink to print all that i do. =( this is a huge bummer for me. hopefully our meijer doesn’t implement this policy any time soon!
Jenna,
I was curious, so I called Walmart customer service. They said that they have a national coupon policy and that local stores are not allowed to make their own local adjustments. Their national policy is that black and white coupons are acceptable, so you can call them on your cell when you’re there and hand over the phone, so they can set the manager straight and save you a fortune in ink.
