But you are charged fees, taxes, and other charges if it's not used for educational purposes unless you can prove that the intended recipient got a full scholarship, died, went into the army/navy/etc..., or becomes disabled. In other circumstances that check is <em>supposed</em> to be used for educational expenses such as books, cost of living, etc... I always forget that.
