You may have noticed a recent addition to posts in the form of a tiny note at the bottom stating:
Disclosure: This post includes an affiliate link. Read The Fine Print for more information.
Why is it there and what do you need to know about it?
In December of 2009, the FTC decided to place a few regulations on blogs regarding affiliates. Affiliates are companies that provide us with links or products which we get compensated for in some form to promote. Now, the FTC requires us to disclose this information, so thus the text at the bottom of posts. This indicates that somewhere within the post is an affiliate link. This text will be appearing at the bottom of almost all of my posts, because I’m affiliated with many online coupon resources, which are included in store deals and more.
What do I mean by compensated? While some companies may pay me, others offer products for review of other forms of compensation.
And, most importantly, what does that mean to you? Nothing really, but I wanted you to know. I will not endorse a product or refer you to a site I wouldn’t use myself. I will not be telling you to buy something for $50 somewhere, because I get a kick-back for it, when I know it’s only $19 somewhere else. In the end, this is a deal seeking site, so the deals and posts I list are, in my opinion, wonderful deals, regardless of my affiliation with them!
