I have a $30 gift card for Kroger burning a hole in my pocket! I’ve been challenged by General Mills, PepsiCo, and MyBlogSpark to see how much I can buy (or more importantly, how much I can save) during Kroger’s Mega Savings Event, which takes place August 16-September 2nd.
With a newborn in the house and a stocked freezer, I’ve been on a shopping hiatus, but I figured I could come out of temporary retirement to rise to the challenge! Plus, I love challenges like this! So today, I’m off to Kroger with my 3 little ones in tow to spend $30 and hopefully save even more!
Come back tomorrow to see what I bought, how much I spent, and how much I saved!

I have subscribed to your blog by email. I live in Johnson County and have been a lurker for a little bit. Thanks for putting this together!
I typically only shop at Kroger for their great sales. I use both hard coupons and ecoupons because loading them on my Kroger card is so easy. If I had $30 to spend at Kroger, I bet I could save at least $40, after deals and coupons, at least doubling my money!
I recently shopped at Kroger & my bill came to over 50.00. I paid 2.63 out of pocket! So, I think 30.00 could take me a long way. Thanks for the opportunity. Stephanie (can't seem to post my name, it keeps regecting it?!?! Help!)
On a typical trip to Kroger, I save 40-60%, and, if I'm trying a little bit harder, and up that to 75-80%. The actual amount I'd save would be contingent on how much forethought I put into the shopping trip :)
I'm an RSS subscriber – not an email subscriber, does that count as an entry?
I think I can save at least 80&!!

Beth,
I love your site. I think I could could get over $100 worth of groceries for $30! Maybe even better with this mega sale.

I just started couponing and have been helping my mom learn as well. She is on a very fixed budget so Kroger has become our new store to shop. We are also learning how to meal plan from the pantry vs going out and purchasing what we need every week. Our typical savings has been around 65 – 70%. We are working on upping our percentages. A $30 gift card would allow us to purchse around $100 or more.
I think I could get about $100-125 worth of groceries during a mega event at Kroger for $30
Good luck!!! (Just don't buy much produce!)
okay- – I'm not quite as good as everyone else, but I cn usually asve 50%, so a $30.00 GC would buy me over $60 worth THanks! Hope I win!

My personal high score has been 97% The Hubs was most impressed!
Ah! I am just learning how to save money with coupons, but I have a stack of coupons ready to go, and Kroger is one of my 3 stores I generally shop at. My coupons total $25 worth of savings, but I would def. watch their ad to get some additional savings. $30 off my bill would be a great way to get me going!
I usually save 50-60% at Kroger.
I shop several different stores to get the best deals but I do shop mostly at Kroger. I easily save 30-60% off my total.

According to my fancy spreadsheet, I will be able to purchase $70 worth of deals and will come to be $3.62. This spans 4 transactions and does include the catalina deals I will get back. Thank you Kroger's special customer flyer :D
I love this "IN Good Cents". I think because this site has taught me so well I could save about 60% if I had a $30.00 gift card.
I should be able to get at least $60 worth with the $30 giftcard. Thanks for the opportunity.

I would love to try for a 90% savings. My last trip was 60% and the one before that was 77%. Thanks for the great savings opportunities that you provide for us through your blogging. My husband has been surprised at the amount in the grocery cart compared to the small amount paid!

Thanks sooo much for all of your encouragement! Since I'm a stay at home mom I feel like saving money when I shop is my job. Sometimes I can earn $20 an hour by working my coupons and deals! Proverbs 31:18 says she sees that her trading profitable! That's me! I usually save %70-75 when Kroger is having a good sale week.
Thanks again!
Hi Beth. You've saved me a lot of money since I started reading your blog early this summer.
With coupons and careful shopping, I'm sure I can save 50% on my grocery bill.
I shopped the mega event and bought about $73 worth for $25 after deals and coupons (65% savings) plus paid for $16 of the $25 with what was left on a gift card I still had from a previous pharmacy coupon deal.
Here's a link to my blog post about the challenge:
