As you saw yesterday, I do make a weekly menu. Why? Making a menu before you hit the grocery store is a must for saving money. You have to make sure you not only have enough meals to make it through the week, but that you also have all the ingredients you’ll need. Otherwise you’ll end up heading back to the store to pick up more items here and there that you didn’t include in your budget.
Your menu doesn’t have to be detailed. Just make sure you have 7 breakfasts, 7 lunches, and 7 dinners. Also, if you have days where you just don’t want to cook (like me!), plan for that by throwing in a quick, easy meal or pre-making & freezing a meal.
To save even more money, try to use a mixture of items you already have on hand, as well as items on that are great deals. Try to plan your menu around sales, coupons, and deals!

I have a very simple, inexpensive recipe that everyone seems to love. This is very quick and great for those “I don’t feel like cooking” nights!
12 ounce can of tuna in water, drained
2 eggs (or 3 small)
1/4 cup milk, 2%
1 sleeve saltine crackers, crushed
Mix all ingredients well. Shape into balls and flatten. Fry in butter/margarine until golden.
These are delicious with cocktail sauce or ketchup.
