With the Kroger deals rolling out this morning and a lot of deals that list “plus possible overage”, I’ve already received a few questions asking what exactly this means. So how can you get overage when you use a coupon?
This week, Campbell’s Chunky soups are on sale for $0.99 each and you have a $0.50 coupon that doubles to $1.00 to use. You’ll get the soup for free, but the cashier should adjust the price of the coupon to be $0.99 to match the item you bought. However, not all cashiers know this and some will give you the entire $1.00 off the $0.99 item giving you an extra $0.01 off your remaining items. This $0.01 is possible overage, because it’s not guaranteed that you’ll get it, but if you’re lucky you may just save a little extra.
